Questions For My Republican Friends Who Still Support Trump

I am attempting to understand how Republicans still support his actions, given his incitement of terrorist acts against a full and equal government branch representing you, the people.

Here is what I do understand:

I understand during Trump’s first impeachment, many believed that his actions might have been in the grey zone, but not impeachable. Many also thought that the voters should decide in the 2020 election as to whether he should stay in office.

I understand that an overwhelming number of US citizens did decide with their vote to remove the President and install the Democratic leadership of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

I understand that when US citizens did decide and removed him from office with their vote, the President moved the goal post by saying there is no way he would lose unless there was fraud.

I understand that having loyalty to his logic, you believe there must have been fraud because he said so.  Therefore like magic, that the electoral votes could not be accurate.

I understand that your complete loyalty means you believe Trump instead of scientists, judges, judicial oversight, electoral recounts, and all other evidence presented counter of fraud.

I understand that Trump placed the country in a no-win situation, stoking his loyalists’ fears and forcing a choice between his theories over the American electoral process’s integrity and the US Constitution itself.

I understand that you cannot serve two masters because you will love one and reject the other. Those who believe him will not let the truth come to them, allowing Presidential pronouncements to obfuscate their vision instead of evidence.

I understand that you say impeachment will not heal the country.

I also understand this about healing:

  • You cannot heal before you address the sickness and remove the cancer.

  • That healing means aligning your mind with the mind of God in truth and honesty.

  • That healing means acceptance of what is and proceeding with love in all future choices.

  • That healing does not mean avoiding an outcome you don’t like and turning a blind eye to the facts presented before you.

  • That healing means you have to confront and go through problems to get to the place where healing abides, which is the ultimate desire.

  • You cannot heal by ignoring the cancer.

  • You cannot heal by making excuses for a child’s bad behavior.

  • You cannot heal by hate and fear. Only love heals, courage heals.

  • The only way to heal is to be healed.  That resides in each one of us.

  • Faith in fighting is not healing.

It’s all too nebulous.  Trump changes the rules at his discretion to always be in his favor and make him the winner.  He moves the goalpost every time only to be reachable by him and his desires.  Like in Charlie Brown, he snatches away the football as soon as Charlie Brown attempts to kick it.  Charlie Brown is not the loser because of Lucy’s dishonesty.  The country does not lose because Trump snatches away.

I Understand These Are Not What Constitutes A Peaceful Transfer Of Power:

  • Not conceding to support the healing of America.

  • Pressuring the Vice President NOT to count votes and officially announce the election of the new administration.

  • Delaying access to the executive branch departments to transition information.

  • NOT attending the Inauguration, a traditional and ceremonial and transfer of power that supports the country’s healing.

  • Rhetoric espousing grievances in a “rigged election” and that he won by a landslide.

  • Rejecting the American electoral processes that protect our republic, even though they have been audited and adjudicated electoral results, confirming the opposite.

  • Encouraging his supporters to fight to keep him in the Office of the Presidency.

My Questions Then Are These:

  • I wonder then, how does healing work for you?

  • How do you determine what is truth and what is fiction?

  • How can you align Trump’s actions with...

    • the healing process of God? (loving & nonviolent)

    • the Constitution of the United States?

    • forgiveness & acceptance.

  • You know that a leader’s hyperbole is taken literally. Is it not then his responsibility to stop the hype or use it consciously?

  • What is the expectation when the literalists’ leader says, “go fight and take the country back?”

  • How do you define a peaceful transfer of power?

  • You cannot serve 2 Masters.  Which Master do you serve?

Take a minute and think about it.  Let me know your thoughts.

Love & Light
